usa is a pb blogging app and community forum focused on characters from all over the United States. We encourage our members to engage in a more traditional, old-school style of rp approach to activities and posts on the friends page to make it a more unique space for sharing and connecting. here, we really want to focus on how characters grow, but even more on how they interact with each other and build their relationships through the fictional online platform.
★ We're all about creating a fun and supportive community, both in and out of character. If you need help with codes, want to request some icons, or need IJ journal invite codes, we've got your back! Plus, our mods will be handing out renames to active members from time to time since we each have a surplus from our monthly ij Patreon rewards. ★ engaging with fellow members We're on the hunt for writers who can really connect with others in character and keep conversations flowing. Honestly, it can be pretty draining to engage with characters who don’t reciprocate, especially when it comes to customs or on the friends page. What we’re after are writers who can bring some flair and personality to their character's responses. Sure, we can't expect to have deep, funny, or even interesting chats with everyone all the time, but we should definitely be beyond just exchanging one or two-word replies when someone takes the time to comment you.
★ basics: journals, applying & characters when setting up for usa we ask that you consider using the sources available to you on insanejournal. recents & domains are good sources for finding ooc purged usernames. writer is a good source for finding icon journals and other helpers for coding and layouts.
★ semi-daily discussions only running the introduction process when adds occur runs another risk of the friends page becoming stagnant. we plan to post a themed discussion semi-daily to bridge the gap when needed. we do not expect the posts to be lively every single time but we hope they will provide a no pressure option for your character to hop in and meet new people.

★journals to apply you must use an appropriate out of character journal. refrain from using underscores, excesssive numbers or nonsensical gibberish.★ non-traditional intros In order to prevent the friends page from becoming inactive due to an overabundance of introductory posts, we are implementing a new introduction process that requires the active participation of all community members. To foster more engaging discussions with new characters, you will be asked to complete a very simple survey when you apply, which will be submitted to us. This survey will allow you to describe your character in their own words, rather than posing questions or discussing the usual topics like dinner plans. Instead of having members respond directly to the simple survey, we will provide specific questions for our members to respond to in relation to each new individual, encouraging a more dynamic interaction.
★characters do not have to be american, they just have to live in america. your character's age should be within five years of their pb's age. we do not accept pbs that are under eighteen years old or pbs that have s.a. allegations or any other records of abusive, racist or homophobic issues. we accept brand new and established characters. we are all just looking for a place to write. please do not exceed two characters in the community at once.
★character locations after first adds we will cap popular locations. we want to emphasize that you place your character where they best fit but we ask that you consider placing your character somewhere different from the norm if you can. this is not a community where your character's location should matter in terms of interaction.
★in character post you must have an in character post backdated in your journal for members to contact your character.
★ooc post & bios you must have an out of character post that contains not only the basic run down of your character (full name, birthday/age, hometown, current location, occupation) but you must provide a 150 - 500 word blurb about them. their personality, history, anything! so long as we see you have put some proper thought into your character we will accept you.

★ what does semi-daily mean? we will refrain from making posts on days when the intros from the previous night's adds need more attention. furthermore, we will also avoid posting when there are more than three to five new interactive posts from members on the friends page.★ required activity Just like any other community, we need you to stay engaged during our monthly cycles. You should post something meaningful at least once a month, and it's also important to be active on the friends' page throughout the month.
★ what do the themed posts entail? Nope, these aren't ffas.. Each post will focus on a particular topic for your character to engage with and share thoughts on, especially if others have something to say about it. For instance, you might see something like, "Monday's topic: Marvel vs. DC movies!" Just keep in mind that these discussion posts won't always align with what your character's interests or tastes, so there's no pressure to jump in every single day.
★ updates can consist of anything you'd like. we strongly encourage narratives, mixed-media posts, moodboards, playlists, blog entries, & more. your updates must give some sort of insight into your character! plain moodboards of a handful of random images won't do. please include anything substantial in your moodboards/mixed-media posts.
★ friends page activity is required. If we don’t collectively make an effort to connect with characters beyond our close-knit sls, the community won’t thrive or last! You don’t have to chime in on every intro, post, or event, but if you’re not reaching out to anyone outside your immediate circle, we might have to reconsider your place here. like most other communities, we think it’s fair to expect you to engage every few days or at the very least once a week. All we’re really looking for is some consistency and a genuine desire to collaborate with us to keep things lively and engaging for everyone involved.
